🏆 16-Year-Old Sidharth Sreekumar Crowned Global Chess Grand Prix Rapid Champion
Premier Chess Academy’s Global Chess Grand Prix – FIDE Rated Rapid Tournament concluded in Trivandrum with a spectacular performance from 16-year-old Sidharth Sreekumar (1823), who emerged as the outright champion with 8/9 points.
The nine-round tournament featured a strong international field including GM Petr Kiriakov, IM Anup Deshmukh, IM Krishnamoorthy Murugan, IM Sekhar Chandra Sahu and Sri Lanka’s R K T Dissanayake, the Chess for Everyone 2.0 Classical Champion.

🔥 Kerala’s Youngsters Steal the Show
One of the biggest stories of the tournament was the remarkable showing by Kerala’s young players.
Sanoosh B Shibu (15) finished 4th with 7½/9, Abel Sajan (16) took 6th with 7/9, Mahadev J S (13) finished 8th, Nandan Krishnan (14) 9th and Aradhya S (13) 10th — all finishing ahead of many experienced and higher-rated competitors.
🌟 Remarkable Achievement
In fact, seven of the overall Top 10 were young Kerala players aged 18 or below — a tremendous showcase of the emerging chess talent in the state.
⚔️ Memorable Giant-Killing Performances
The Rapid tournament produced several memorable battles against titled players.

Akshay A R (1834) held GM Petr Kiriakov (2421) to a draw.
♟️ Abel Sajan vs Titled Players
Abel Sajan (1832) produced impressive draws against both IM Anup Deshmukh (2106) and GM Petr Kiriakov (2421).
Young players repeatedly challenged the titled stars throughout the nine rounds, making the tournament much more than a battle for the championship.

From Grandmasters and International Masters to five-year-old beginners, the Global Chess Grand Prix brought players of different ages and playing strengths together under one roof for competitive FIDE-rated Rapid chess.
