At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (April 2022) at Premier Chess Academy, Middle East!

1. Ava Saab

Ava is 8 years old from Lebanon studying in Doha British School in Qatar. She started showing interest in chess after seeing some parts of a chess series on TV. As we came across premier chess academy we were very excited for her to start learning the proper techniques of this prestigious game. Her progress started showing immediately during her first month of  group classes and her enthusiasm for learning soared as she started to grasp the realm of strategies in solving puzzles. Apart from her interest in Chess, Ava is an excellent swimmer and is a very passionate artist. She also plays basketball and Tennis.”

Ava is very punctual and regular in class. She loves to solve challenging puzzles. She has shown a lot of improvement in recent months as she is joining practice sessions regularly. I hope she keeps on learning chess with such dedication and energy. I wish her success in her life.”

2. Shayaan

Shayaan is 9 years old, a Grade 4 student at GEMS Legacy School, Dubai. He was introduced to chess at the age of 5 when we bought him a chessboard and to our surprise, he learned the concept quickly. He was keen to play chess with his family members and always wanted to learn new techniques. So, we decided to put him in the Chess academy.  After joining PCA, his thinking pattern and strategies have improved. He loves to play puzzles and practice sessions. He never gets upset if he loses any game. In fact, he learns from his mistake and tries to improve himself. We sincerely thank his coach Mr. Kunal for his efforts and patience to teach him new strategies and clarifying all his doubts. He recognizes a child’s level and teaches accordingly.  I wish my son to achieve new heights in chess.”

Shayaan is a very disciplined kid who joins class beforehand. He always follows all the tips and ideas I gave to improve point to point. He grasps the concept very well in class. He has a very sharp mind and always involves his own creativity. He is a lovely kid who loves to play chess & solve puzzles. He is regular with practice sessions and weekend tournaments. He has the hunger to learn and improve his game that every chess player should have. He is a logical thinker and always tries to use the tactics taught in the class. He solves all his assignments regularly and with great accuracy. The best thing that I admire in him is that he learns from his own mistakes. I also want to say a big thanks to the parents who are always supporting him every time! I wish him good luck in his Chess career. Keep it up!”

3. Arielle Kayabula

” Arielle is 10 years old and is a very competitive ardent chess lover. She loves solving puzzles as well as Rubik’s cubes and is always challenging herself to mind games so chess class and games are a thrilling experience for her . She joined Premier chess academy after lock down and since then there has been no looking back. She eagerly looks forward to her classes and practice games. She keeps taking up challenging games with zeal to win, analyze how her opponents play and learn new moves . Many thanks to Miss.Pavithra for nurturing her interest , continually challenging and spurring her on. Ariel loves to try new things, coding & robotics as well as playing piano.”

Coach feedback on Arielle :

Arielle is an energetic kid who always joins class on time. She shows lots of interest and she never gives up in any situation. There are times when she has to face defeats but in those moments instead of giving up, Arielle learns from her mistakes and makes sure not to repeat them, Arielle clarifies all the doubts she had in her game. She gets very excited when she wins a game with a high-rated player.  She implements all the tactics in the practice session. She is constantly improving her game, her hard work will definitely help her to achieve new heights. Have a blast!

4. Shane Sam Pulla

Shane Pulla  is 6 years old studying in grade 1 at Wise Indian Private School , Umm Al Quwain , UAE.  He was completely new to chess when he started 4 months back, but now he shows significant interest and improvement in playing chess. And started enjoying the chess classes and has learnt so much about the game. Thanks to coach Mr. Prabhat for able to develop a very good connection with the students and helping them to learn through systematic and positive analysis.”

Shane is a brilliant kid who loves chess a lot. In a very short period of time, he started getting an interest in chess. He never misses a class, and always plays in the practice tournaments. He also creates a very good environment in the class as he is good at making friends which helps the kids to grow together. 5. Sreenand

Sreenand is 9 yr old from India. He is studying in 5th standard in Qatar. He is very much interested in chess. And his father teaches him the basic part of chess. Later he used to  play chess with father and his friends.. Recently we heard about  premier chess academy from one of our friends…Now he is getting a very good coach, Ritish sir, he is very friendly and very supportive. He help him to learn more techniques and got chances to solve puzzles etc… Nandu enjoying his chess class…We would like to express our gratitude to Rithish sir on this precious occasion.”

6. Vivaan Menon

Vivaan Menon is a 10-year-old boy who lives in Muscat, Oman. He enjoys playing PS4, football, basketball, and tennis with his friends. He was introduced to the game of chess at a young age by his grandfather. But he couldn’t pursue professional chess coaching due to the lack of a good chess coaching academy. During the pandemic when his school shifted online, we started seriously exploring online chess coaching. Discovery of PCA & enrolling him for chess coaching has been a blessing for us as he has shown a lot of interest in chess. Thanks to the teaching staff of PCA and their weekly chess games his interest for the game has increased tremendously and so have his chess skills. “

Vivaan is a very focused and enthusiastic boy who is very keen to solve every obstacle. A few months back Vivaan was struggling with the games he was playing in the practice sessions but he didn’t let this thing affect his spirit to learn and grow and now he is doing well in his games, showing a good understanding of the game and has come up with more confidence. 7. Ansh Mallya

Ansh who is all of 8 yrs. old but if I need to describe in short he is super active, notorious,  sharp, honest. This cheerful boy loves to play !! Be it football or badminton or chess, he seems to be a good sport! Ansh, is extremely expressive & communicates pretty clearly about his choices! Has a mind of his own & at this age too surprises us with his clarity of decisions! He is a fast learner & very grasps concepts easily. He impresses us with his negotiation skills however by channeling his energy by way of outdoor / indoor games, he seems to be growing fitter mentally & physically! He is learning team work & most importantly tries to play to win however also learns that some games are lost too! “

Selection Criteria – April 2022: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
