FIDE Turned 100 years old and completed a Century for Chess.
Wondering who FIDE is ? What do they do and What is Chess Day ?

FIDE was born
Long time back in the year 1924 which was right around the time of the 8th Olympics P. Vincent (France), L. Rees (Great Britain), A. Rueb (Netherlands) and a group of Russian immigrant chess players headed by Alexander Alekhine got together and formed the organization which is today called FIDE – Federation Internationale des Echecs.
This is how FIDE was established on 20th of July, 1924.
It was later recognized by the International Olympic Committee as a Global Sporting Organization in 1999.
FIDE currently has its headquarters in Lausanne,Switzerland. It is now one of the largest sports organizations encompassing 201 countries as affiliate members, in the form of National Chess Federations.
Role and Purpose of FIDE over the past 100 years
The purpose and aim of FIDE are the diffusion and development of chess among all nations of the world, as well as the raising of the level of chess culture and knowledge on a sporting, scientific, creative and cultural basis.
It also organizes all international chess competitions like World championships for women, juniors, seniors, and the differently abled, as well as the Chess Olympiad.
It is also responsible for awarding chess titles like Grandmasters, FIDE master , International master.

Meanwhile, FIDE celebrated the 100 years in style and Successfully completed a Guinness World record of the most games played in 24 hours.

FREE Chess Boards for Local Schools –
Our Coach Ankush Bharadwaj gave away free Chess Boards in Government schools in the Udhampur district for the upliftment of Chess in the local schools.
We at Premier Chess Academy will continue doing our part to grow the game beyond the chess board.
