At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advice, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (May 2025) at Premier Chess Academy, Asia Pacific (Australia, Singapore and New Zealand)!

1. Atraiu Sikder

Atraiu is a charming and intelligent 10-year-old boy showing incredible curiosity and enthusiasm. He recently discovered a passion for chess. He was introduced to this game by his grandpa and did not take a long time to show interest in this game. Soon his parents enrolled in a chess class where, under careful supervision from his chess coach, he was excelling and developing new skills. Atraiu thoroughly enjoys his chess class with a very friendly but equally informative class ambience. His skills are getting sharpened every day. He is special in a sense to taking challenges and always remains enthusiastic but also keeps calm in adverse situations. He is also very fond of outdoor games. Atraiu loves to play football and represents his football club in various tournaments at junior level. He is passionate about both mental and physical activities. He is a foodie and loves to travel with his parents in different parts of the world. With his go-getter attitude, learning ability and healthy competitive spirit, Atraiu will surely excel in this game and beyond.”

Coach feedback on Atraiu:

Atraiu is a very talented kid, He is always excited to solve the puzzles, but when it comes to playing games then he is more active and serious.  He has the potential to do very well in the future; I wish him the best for the upcoming tournaments.

2. Divit Singh

Meet Divit, an enthusiastic and self-driven young chess player! His passion for the game sparked when he independently sought out resources on how to play chess. Now, at PCA, he’s honing his strategic skills and celebrating victories in academy-organized games. Happy to see his growth after joining PCA. Thank-you teachers.”

Coach feedback on Divit:

“Divit has made noticeable strides in both his play and his mindset. What really stood out in May was his improved focus during games—he is now taking his time to think, calculating deeper, and showing greater awareness of his opponent’s plans. That shift in approach has made his moves more purposeful and his overall play more solid. It has also been great to see how he handles setbacks. Rather than getting frustrated, he has been asking questions, reviewing games, and applying the lessons right away. That kind of attitude—open to learning, eager to improve—is exactly what sets long-term players apart. If he keeps up this level of effort, curiosity, and discipline, he is on a path that could take him a very long way in chess. Fantastic work this month, Divit—keep going strong!
