At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (February 2022) at Premier Chess Academy, Asia Pacific (Australia, Singapore and New Zealand)!

1. Thewan Dinadith

“Thewan is a grade 3 student studying in Singapore. He is a new chess player who started learning chess in October last year .He showed interest and had good commitment on training during the last few months . We let him to enroll in PCA as it is important to gain new skills , develop concentration and thinking abilities. His knowledge of the game has further grown up with guidance of his coach Mr Anshul. We must be really thankful to his coach for his training and support. Furthermore, Thewan is interested in Maths ,reading ,playing with friends and swimming. We are really delighted to see Thewan being selected as Star of the month. ”

“Thewan is a enthusiastic about chess , whenever he joins the class he brings a different vibe in the class and he always try to come first whether in game play , problem solving or answering the questions, he used to be little impatient in the starting but the way he has developed his concentration and shown his nerve control while playing he is really into it to become champion very soon . I wish him all the best and my support always in his chess journey.”

2. Sahaj Aujla

“Sahaj Aujla is turning 9 this year. Started with chess since 2021, does online matches, have joined Darwin chess club and participate in weekly games with adults. Captain of under-11 banks hockey club, class leader in Leanyer primary school. Good in mathematics, ice skating & Bollywood dancing. Sharp minded and ambitious to join Australian defence force just like his dad (Dave Aujla the great).”

Coach feedback on Sahaj :

“Sahaj is a brilliant kid. At such a young age his attitude towards learning new things is just commendable. Sahaj is doing very well and is a quick learner. The way he solves the puzzles and give the quick answer that is superb. This is just the beginning and at this point such type of quality, responding on puzzles and on various aspect shows that he will do much better in future. I feel privileged to have Sahaj as my student. My best wishes are with Sahaj.”

3. Kuppusamy Shivshankar

” Shiv is in primary 5 and from Singapore. He started playing chess 6 months back with his mum when pandemic shut the door for him to play outdoor games. As his interest grew, we wanted to enrol him for professional training. We enrolled him in PCA and found his skills increased by leaps and bounds after joining the course. Thanks to his coach Utkarsh Gupta. Shiv is very dynamic and always looks for chess techniques from various sources. He has variety of interest like reading books, watching and playing cricket. He watches cricket matches in whichever part of the world it is played. He has interest in watching personality development videos also.”

Selection Criteria – February 2022: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
