At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (February 2022) at Premier Chess Academy, Europe!

1. Kiaan Singla

Kiaan is 8 years old, he is very passionate about Chess. He looks forward to the classes and practice sessions anxiously, learning and enjoying at the same time. He is learning new moves and strategies with every passing day, and has grown from novice to chess enthusiast. We appreciate his coach Abhinandan Ganguly for inspiring Kiaan and making it pleasing and enjoyable.

Coach feedback on Kiaan  :

Kiaan is a quick learner who learns the concepts well & tries to implement them in his games. He learns from his mistakes & is ambitious to improve his skills. He used to participate in practice sessions with great enthusiasm & always has a positive mindset while playing games. He is currently growing his sharp tactical vision and a good understanding of the game.

2. Aiden McCarthy

“Aiden is 7 years old. He started playing chess in the lockdown when his mummy googled the moves for each chess piece. Since then he has loved playing chess and has been persuading his parents to play chess with him. Aiden is passionate about swimming and likes playing tennis. He enjoys playing the piano and also plays the violin. Aiden can spend hours on Lego and reading about dinosaurs! He is currently learning to speak some mandarin. He gets a lot of delight from looking after his pet fish. He loves playing chess with Afinu (since the end of December 2021) because Afinu makes it very fun for him. Aiden looks forward to learning and developing his chess games with Afinu as he is great with him!”

“Aiden is a passionate chess player who loves to play chess. His ability to catch new concepts and apply them in games is quite remarkable. Aiden is regular in classes and practice sessions. He enjoys his chess classes and is very active while doing puzzles and finding alternate solutions for class exercises. Keep improving yourself and I am sure that you will achieve more heights in the future.”

3. Advay Jha

“Avi is Advay’s nickname. Avi is 7 year old. Avi is very kind wherever he goes he becomes the fav person. Avi loves math and science. He can solve the whole Rubik’s cube in under 2 minute.
He loves singing, solving puzzles and chess. He started his chess journey less than a year ago and has picked up very quickly. He himself found that he wanted to learn chess. Thanks to PCA for all the support and learning.”

Coach feedback on Advay :

Avi is a very sincere student. He is a quick learner who is always ready for new challenges. Shows a great passion for the game of chess. In a short time, he has gained decent command over all aspects of chess, very sharp with ideas, tactics, and other long stretch concepts. His calculation skills have improved drastically, getting better at practical skill sets also! He is a great chess player for sure!”

4. Darsh

“Darsh, 7 year lad based at Scotland currently but originally from India . He started chess at 5 for fun with dad. Later went on to join Premier Chess Academy under guidance of Miss Sunya, that he genuinely cherished. His knowledge and skills for Chess has dramatically increased, credit goes to his coach of course. Other than Chess, he likes to build imaginative models with LEGO, explore Science topics with the Amsum channel and play all the time. He is a keen learner and loves to absorb information and generate insights about the world.”

Coach feedback on Darsh  :

“Darsh is a highly energetic kid. He is very interactive in class and tries to complete all the assigned tasks with perfection. In the practice sessions, there are times when he makes mistakes but instead of getting demotivated, Darsh tries to learn from his mistakes and makes sure not to repeat them. Darsh has shown tremendous improvement in such a short span of time. All his efforts are very much appreciable!”

5. Liam Tran-Thanh

Liam is 7 years old, and lives in the United Kingdom. He likes chess because he likes strategic thinking. He won a silver medal in a tournament. Liam also likes reading, watching the telly and playing games. Liam loves to play with his brother. He’s curious and a chatterbox , he keeps on asking his dad many questions. Liam has loads of lessons outside school and he loves to attend all of them.”

Coach feedback on Liam :

Liam is a talented kid and he loves to play more and more games. He is very regular with practice sessions as well and good at puzzles. One of the good things I like about him is that he is very attentive during the whole class and tries to answer each and every question asked in the class. I am very happy with his progress and looking forward to teaching him more new things. All the Best Liam, Keep it up!”

Selection Criteria – February 2022: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
