At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (July 2021) at Premier Chess Academy, North America(Canada & USA)!

 

1. Arham Singhvi

“Arham is 8-year-old 3rd grader. He is a cheerful and smart boy. Arham started learning chess in his second grade and fell in love with it. He was interested in Chess and could place all the pieces on the board correctly even before we played with him for the first time. In his 4-5 months of learning process, he is very much involved in the game and tries to play lots of puzzles and games on lichess other than tournaments. Besides chess he loves solving math problems, reading books, learning facts and figures about various topics from google, biking and playing with his younger brother, Aagam. Our sincere thanks to his great coach, Tushar Sir for guiding Arham and improving his game.”

2. Mitharran Sai

“Mithrran Sai is a ten years old fifth-grader from Orlando. He is always a fun-loving, enthusiastic kid. He loves to play basketball, table tennis, Roller skates with his friends. Although he knew how to play chess earlier, he learned many strategies after joining the Premier Academy. His favorite move is Scholar’s mate to win the opponent. Moreover, his planning skills have been greatly improved in recent days. Even if he loses the game, he tries to learn from his mistakes. The best part is he gained more confidence by playing chess, and as parents, we love that.”

3. Toashin Iqbal Hossain

“Toashin is hardworking and motivated 13 years old. Playing chess is something he likes to play each day that gives him confidence and rewards him in some ways. He says Chess is a fun hobby to keep himself busy every day. He wants to continue doing better in chess.”

Not only he learns new ideas but also tries them in his games in a confident manner. He has a quiet nature which helps him to concentrate better while playing.In the practice session, he plays all the games with full focus and tries to find innovative ideas to win the games. There are times when he has to face losses but in those situations also, instead of getting demotivated he gives his level best to learn from his mistakes. 4. Diya Thoutem

“Diya is a 7 year old 2nd grader and lives in Colorado. Diya started learning chess at age 5 with her mom – dad and now chess is her passion. She enjoys solving puzzles and gets very excited after winning each game, asking for some surprises for each win . Besides chess she enjoys playing tennis, swimming and art. She is also learning bharatnatyam, bollywood dance and karnatic music. Many thanks to PCA & Akash Tiwari Sir for encouring her and helping her to solve Grand Master puzzles and developing her skills in chess. She has improved a lot in very short time.”

5. Ananta Sai Munukutla

“Ananta is a 9-year-old boy lives in Florence, Kentucky. Ananta started playing Chess from last 5 months. I am amazed to see Ananta’s progress. Many thanks to coach Ayush for all the inputs. Ayush has unique style of teaching the tricks to play against the opponents. Ananta loves playing cricket and other board games. Thanks to Premier Chess Academy for this opportunity. 6. Mariam jawad

“Mariam jawad is 11 years old and will be starting grade 6 and lives in Canada. She likes to read, make slime and ride her bike but most of all loves to play with her pet bunny Binky. She is a quick and enthusiastic learner and enjoys challenging her sister and brother to a game of chess.”

Coach feedback on Mariam :

“Mariam is really a very talented kid with huge amount of positivity towards accepting the failure. She never gets upset for any down falling rather she keeps up her pace and continue to put efforts with more dedication. She is a very regular kid, never missed classes nor practice sessions. Her performance in this month is commendable since apart from solving puzzles she has overcame the weakness that she had while playing practice session. She has increased her lichess rating and Puzzle rating by 300 points which really makes her worthy star of this month. Hope she continue to perform well and achieve her dreams in the long run. 7. Siddharth Gowtham

“Siddharth is 12 years old and entering 7th grade. He is very passionate about chess and always exploring new moves. He loves to compete and play chess with his brother. Especially this summer, Siddharth has been playing a lot of practice sessions to improve his skills. Special thanks to his coach Darpan for helping him enjoy chess even more.”

8. Medhansh Bandaru

“Medhansh is a 7 yrs old and lives in Virginia. He will be going to 2nd grade from fall 2021. He got interested in chess at the age of 5 yrs when his father showed him how to play this game out of a bunch of board games. He was interested in playing chess. So, after joining in PCA, he learnt many tactics which improved his game. He also loves to play soccer, bike and read books.”

9. Devanshpeddi

“Devansh is a 10 year old boy going to 5th grade and is from Boston Massachusetts. He was introduced to chess by his brother at the age of 5 but did not play chess much until he joined Premier Chess Academy. As he played more chess, he loved it and is all because of instructor Mr. Rinku Jain. Besides chess, he is also very enthusiastic in learning math, piano, coding and art. More of his hobbies are kayaking, soccer, robotics, making architectures and swimming. Some of his favorite places are beaches in Florida and Kalahari, a water park in Ohio.”

10. Charan Kumar Simhadri

“Charan is 7 years old from Collierville, Tennessee area and will be starting 2nd grade this academic year. He plays chess with his friends and his father. He loves camping, biking, playing soccer and board games with his friends and family. PCA reinvigorated his interest in the game and ever since he has been advancing his skills at a steady pace. He is now self motivated and plays as many games as possible in addition to participating in the regular tournaments. A big shout out to PCA team and special thanks to his teacher Mr. Bhaskar for all the hard work!”

“Charan is a very silent kid don’t talk much in class, and silently smiles when he solves something perfectly. But the way he grasps the lessons that is taught in class and the way he implement those in games, makes him unique and the progress is remarkable, got 1st position in practice sessions and also got ranked in top three for many times. He is a regular attendee in class and practice sessions too. I remember he was on a trip but didn’t missed the class and attended being inside a tent. The efforts he is putting and the dedication he is showing towards the game is the main reason of his success. “Poorvi is a 7 year old girl and lives in Fremont, California. Her hobbies are drawing, riding bike, and playing board games. She likes to play chess, so she joined PCA. We would like to say thanks to Harshita Madam for being encouraging and friendly. We are happy with PCA team.”

“Akshara is 7 years old, studying in 2nd grade. She loves to play chess, piano and singing (classical music). She is also interested in solving Rubik cubes, building LEGO blocks. She was interested in chess game at the age of 5. She does not want to miss any class and always enthusiastic about the class. Happy to see her making good progress at beginner level and thanks to Mihir for always encouraging her.”

“Pooja Gopinathrao is a 7th grader. She lives in Tampa, Florida. She enjoys chess, art, biking and music. Chess was first introduced to her from her grandfather in 2016. 15. Shashwath Raghav Krishnamurthi

“Shashwath is a vivid chess lover, who is in grade 2 of school and lives in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He learnt his basic chess skills from his dad and continued to spend most of his free time on analyzing some epic games played between Grandmasters. He is a big fan of Bobby fischer’s tactics and Mikhail Tal’s sacrifices. Finding a friendly and “Down to Kids” coach in Sushant Kamble of Premier Chess Academy helped him to come over his mental barrier about playing against high rated chess players on online chess platforms. Apart from playing chess, Shashwath spends time on drawing some beautiful pencil sketches and making innovative structures out of lego.”

16. Stavya Sharma

“Stavya is in 6th-grade boy lives in Saint-Louis area. He got introduced to chess in fourth grade and very much interested to learn more about it. He loves biking, playing soccer and good in skating. I am so glad of enrolling Stavya in the chess class at Premier Chess Academy and so thankful to the teacher Mr. Swapnil for teaching him the Chess skills. I can say with certainty that choosing to take lessons with Mr. Swapnil was the best decision I could have made. The way that the lessons are structured helps Stavya not only understand where his weaknesses are but also how to improve his game. He is able to play in the right direction and after every lesson he has feeling as though he understand the game a little bit better. I have been surprised at how much he has been able to improve, especially with the homework being so instructive and fun. If you really want to improve, I would highly recommend Swapnil Sir.”

“Samar is 9 years old from Columbus, OH area and will be starting 5th grade this fall. He started to play chess when he was around 5 years old with his parents. He likes to play and teach Chess to his little brother, Soham. He also likes to do swimming, play tennis and ride his bicycle. It’s been just a month since he joined PCA and he is learning a lot from his coach Mr. Jeet. He has started participating in the weekly tournaments and is enjoying & learning together.”

19.Aarav Karthikey Bukka

“Aarav is an easygoing, energetic, and joyful kid. He is a 9 year old sports enthusiast from Jacksonville, Florida. He likes playing basketball, and is very good in holding defense. This summer he started learning tennis. Aarav loves reading books, his favorite series include “Dog man” “Naruto” and “Treasure Hunters”. He enjoys swimming and playing guitar. He likes helping us in the kitchen, and his favorite food is Mutton Biryani. Earlier this year, he started showing interest in chess and started playing chess with his dad. Couple of months back we got him enrolled in Premier Chess Academy with Vivek sir. Vivek is spontaneous in reviewing and providing feedback. This helps Aarav to stay focused and determined. Thanks to Vivek sir for all the guidance.”

Selection Criteria – July 2021: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
