At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (June 2024) at Premier Chess Academy, North America (Canada & USA)!

1. Gauraansh Singh

“Gauraansh is 7 years old. He loves Mathematics, building Legos and reading Chapter Books. He is also fond of playing sports specially Chess, Soccer and Big base. He started playing chess a few months back with his mother and it came naturally to him. Later on, his sister (Member of Premier Chess Academy) also helped him in his learning curve. His Coach Mr. Keshav Mishra is a very disciplined coach and he motivated him as well to be disciplined in his games. In such a short span his game improved a lot under guidance of Mr. Keshav. Thanks to the Premier Chess Academy for the platform and looking forward to an exciting learning experience.”

2. Kaison Zhu

“Kaison Zhu is a bright and curious 6-year-old boy, he is studying in first grade and residing in Columbus, Ohio. Kaison has a diverse range of interests, including drawing, cars, reading history books, and playing chess. He joined PCA in March to learn from Coach Raunak. Kaison eagerly participates in weekend tournaments, which have greatly contributed to his development. In April, he won 1st place in the K1U500 section at the US National Elementary Championships, competing against 102 players from various states. This accomplishment has further fueled his enthusiasm for chess, and we look forward to his continued growth and enjoyment in his chess journey with PCA.”

3. Revanth MS

“Revanth is 10 years old and always learns about various games like Roblox and chess. He’s passionate about math and enjoy solving puzzles and problems in his free time. He also loves music and play the piano (Attending trinity online weekly music class). To stay active, he’s also going to Taekwondo material arts class, which helps him with physical fitness and discipline. He enjoys spending time with friends and family and love exploring new hobbies and activities.”

“Revanth is an enthusiastic & energetic kid. He’s very curious that you can give him any topic like solving puzzles, learning new tactic, playing games, fun arena – his interest never reduces! 4. Sai Sravan Nutalapati

“Sai Sravan Nutalapati is 9 years old, and he is going to be a fourth grader. We live in Livermore; California and He goes to Altamont Creek Elementary school. He started playing chess about 2 years back and joined PCA sometime last year. He enjoys playing chess and look forward to his classes every week. After joining PCA, he participated in some Chess tournaments and did well. Other than chess, he is very good at playing basketball. He also enjoys playing his Nintendo with his friends. He is very kind and joyful kid who loves to spend his time outdoors most of the time. He is learning Swimming and goes to Martial Arts and currently at his purple belt. We would like to thank PCA and Coach Arya for their continued support and guidance to Sai.”

5. Aanaya Banerjee

“Aanaya, also lovingly known as Ruhi, is almost 7 years old (having a birthday in August). Starting from scratch, she embraced the challenge with an incredible urge for learning and quickly demonstrated her aptitude for the game. She approaches each game with a keen mind, learning the importance of patience and problem-solving along the way. Her progress in chess is not just a series of wins and losses but a reflection of her growing ability to think critically and strategically. She is a vibrant and multifaceted little girl with a passion for dancing, a love for music, and a flair for coloring. Her artistic pursuits allow her to express her creativity and joy in various forms, enriching her life and the lives of those around her. Chess has been more than just a game for her; it has been a valuable teacher. The patience and problem-solving skills she have gained will benefit her in many aspects of life. A heartfelt thank you goes to her dedicated chess coach Raunak Gupta. Your patience, expertise, and unwavering encouragement have played a pivotal role in nurturing her love for the game. 6. ARIA MENON

“Aria is 11 years old and is an inquisitive, articulate and creative child. A true Scorpio, chess appeals to her dual skills of patience and planning. In the short time that she has pursued the game through premier chess academy she has learnt to see beyond winning and losing and instead, in the time-honored ritual of chess pupils, is learning the nuances of plots and understanding the importance of using all her pieces, to wage battle- a lesson which we hope will translate to valuable life skills. She stays fit by regularly swimming, hiking and playing tennis. Like most kids Aria can watch TV for extraordinary lengths of time if not reminded to do other things! As independent as she is I am comforted by the fact that she needs me to switch off the TV! Her best trait is her resilience which helps her refocus and persevere. I am thrilled that Aria enjoys chess and continues to expand her horizons!”

7.Chirag Bhange

 “Chirag is a bright and energetic young boy with a wide range of interests. He is 8-year-old and soon going to be in 4th grade. His curiosity and enthusiasm for learning are evident in everything he does. Chirag love to play chess and enjoy chess matches on lichess. Apart from chess, Chirag has a profound love for reading. His favorite book series includes Amulet, The Last Kids on Earth, The Dragon Prince, which he can discuss in detail for hours. He is also very creative with Legos and can spend hours building complex structures. We’re incredibly proud of the person he is becoming and excited to see where his talents will take him. I want to take a moment and thank his coach Harshu for guiding and pushing him to excel.”

8. Eeshwar Sure

“Eeshwar is an 11-year-old, going to 6th grade and living in Georgia, GA. He discovered his interest in chess when he was 6 years old. Since then, he has been addicted to it. He played with his dad initially and started winning over his dad and then started taking chess lessons. Right now, his coach, Suvradeepta Das, has been an amazing coach providing a lot of resources to excel and enhance Eeshwar’s interest in the game. Apart from chess, Eeshwar loves swimming and playing piano. Eeshwar hopes to become a grandmaster and Olympic swimmer someday. Kudos to Premier Chess Academy for having such amazing coaches and providing great guidance and roadmap to the students to achieve their goal in chess.”

9. Shruthi Rajagopalan

“We are very happy for Shruthi to get this award. We started out by joining her in many classes, chess being one of them. Out of all those classes, Shruthi started developing a keen interest in chess through each session, that now she won’t stop playing and trying to improve her placement. From learning the intricate strategies to competing passionately, chess has become an integral part of her life, shaping her thinking and decision-making beyond the board. Her dedication to playing and improving in chess is displayed through her will to never miss class as she very much enjoys the environment and content shared. 10.Sricharan Mellachervu

“Sricharan is six years old and will go to first grade in August 2024.
He has recently been recognized as one of the stars of the month within three months of joining Premier Chess Academy, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement.
From the moment he was introduced to chess around a year back, his eyes lit up with excitement and curiosity. He has shown remarkable interest and enthusiasm, spending his time practicing and playing chess. His ability to think ahead and anticipate is truly impressive for someone his age. We are thrilled to see him thrive in an activity he loves so much, and we can’t wait to see how he continues to grow as a young chess player. 13.Yashica Dhanasekar

“Yashica Dhanasekar, age: 10. Hobbies: solving Rubik’s cube (best at 35 seconds), classical dancer (Bharatanatyam, best dancer of the batch), spends time on pencil art, and spends time in roller skates in the evening. Thanks note for teacher: Thanks a lot, sir. My daughter feels you are the best teacher and have taught her a lot of nuances and strategies in chess, improving her skills from bottom to top.”

Selection Criteria –JUNE 2024: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Overall – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
