At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (March 2022) at Premier Chess Academy, Europe!

1. G.Penchala Himesh

Himesh is 6 years old and is studying year 2 in Derby, UK. Originally from AP, India. He is a smart and enthusiastic kid, loves to play Football, Badminton and Cricket. Few months back he got interest in chess as his friends are playing, so we joined him in premier chess Academy. Now he has developed his skills in playing. We must appreciate the efforts and patience in the teaching of his coach Abhinandhan Ganguly. He gets joyful and encouraged every time he wins a game with his dad. As his parents we are proud to see him progress everyday and looking forward to more learning and success.

2. Hanusri Mohansundar

” Hanusri is 7 years old, living in the UK at present. She is a single child to her parents and it’s obvious that she always has a curiosity in her to play with other kids of her age group. She is a very easy going girl and hence loved by everyone. She is open minded and doesn’t hesitate to talk about what she believes as right. She has interest within her to solve puzzles, which chess practice from PCA is really boosting and she enjoys each single class in learning along with her coach Afinu. ”

” Hanusri is a strong, solid chess player. Despite being the youngest in the class, she outperforms the others. She is excellent at solving puzzles and spotting opponents’ weaknesses. She is very regular in the practice sessions. I am very happy to see her progress and wish her all the best for her upcoming events. ”

3. Prem k Patel

” Prem is 8 years old and loves to study English and Math at school. He is passionate about learning new things and to be challenged daily. Prem is very affectionate and attentive towards his sister, Peehu, and they have a very lovable yet fun relationship. His interest in chess started as a whim but once starting, he found that he enjoyed it very much. He thoroughly loved outwitting friends and family in a game of chess! I am happy that he is enjoying chess and learning something good . Thank you very much coach Kumar Raunak for teaching him something good which he enjoyed.”

Prem is a talented kid and he loves to play more and more games. He is very regular with practice sessions as well and good at puzzles. One of the good things I like about him is that he is very attentive during the whole class and tries to answer each and every question asked in the class. I am very happy with his progress and looking forward to teaching him more new things. All the Best Prem, Keep it up! “

4. Danika 

” Danika is 11 year old, lives in the United Kingdom. She likes reading, singing and dancing. Her favorite subject is Science, she wants to become a Doctor. She started learning chess with Premier chess academy 3 months ago and started enjoying her lessons, thanks to PCA for all the support and guidance.”

Danika is a very smart girl. She is one of the most hardworking kids I have ever seen. She is very regular in her classes. She also plays extensively on Lichess. She is very active in the class and answers all the questions. I am extremely happy with Danika’s progress till now and hope she continues with the same. All the best Danika!! “

5. Arjun Singh Patnaik

” Arjun is 8 years old and lives in the UK. His first encounter with chess was when he was 5 years old and since then he has been extremely passionate about chess. He loves playing over the board, participates in numerous events and is also part of the U9 squad for Wey Valley. He can play for hours at a stretch in tournaments and loves the energy and environment. His favorite openings are the Queen’s Gambit and Sicilian Defense. He also had an opportunity to play against the current UK number 1 in chess Michael Adams in a friendly match. Outside of chess he is a voracious reader and spends a lot of time with books. He is very passionate about cars and loves attending car shows.”

Coach feedback on Arjun  :

Arjun has great patience for playing chess. He takes time to think of moves and tries to find the best moves all the time! He works on his weakness very hard and tries to improve on his weakness. His opening and strategy making is very good. High potential to reach far in the chess field.”

Selection Criteria – March 2022: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
