At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (March 2023) at Premier Chess Academy, North America(Canada & USA)!

1. Parth Batra

Parth is 10 years old and is in Grade 4. He always wants to learn chess. Now, he is enjoying and learning chess with full of interest. He is very happy with the way Coach Aabhas is teaching. He likes swimming, tennis and Piano a lot. We hope he will do better in his future with his consistent practice. Thanks to Aabhas Coach for his efforts and motivation. “

2. Eric Edward Felix

Eric is 9 years old and is in 4th grade. It’s been just 4 months since he started chess class. From then on he’s passionate about playing chess and has improved by leaps and bounds. Huge thanks to his coach Anshul Bathla. His next goal is to beat his dad in chess. His other interests include Drawing, Pencil sketching, solving Rubik’s cube, solving 1000+ piece Legos and 1000+ piece picture puzzles. He is also good at playing guitar. He’s an avid nature lover. He loves hiking and trekking. He plays tennis and basketball. He also holds the Taekwondo high yellow belt.

3. Vihas Jaladi

Vihas is 8 years old. He is in 3rd grade. Vihas is a fast learner and developed interest in chess by himself. He likes playing chess and competing. Vihas favorite pastime is playing with guns and his army toys. He likes reading story books and listening to stories during bed time. Vihas always looks forward to his chess classes and lichess tournaments. We would like to thank his coach Benson who personally takes care of each kid. “

4. Akshaj Bansal

Akshaj is 10 years old and has been practising chess with PCA since last year and a half. He is very focused and has quickly progressed. Akshaj loves science and reading books. He is a fun kid who loves nature and always keeps himself busy with one project or the other. He loves taking care of his plants in the yard and also loves to be in nature. Thanks to his current coach Bhaskar and his previous coach  Dr. Ibin for Akshaj’s learning and continuous progression.”

Akshaj is a very sweet and a jolly kid. He is very attentive in class and follows the rules & regulations as said. His approach and efforts towards chess at this age is really remarkable. 5. Aaroh

Aaroh is 13 years old and is in 7th grade at Roosevelt Middle school ,River Forest ,Illinois. He is a voracious reader and loves fiction, especially mystery and history genres. His favorite sports are cricket, Chess, and basketball and he has earned a “brown belt” in Taekwondo. Aaroh is a focused kid. He enjoys discussions over topics based on history, politics, and economics. He plays violin and is also a good singer and enjoys songs in Hindi and English both. Aaroh is a quick learner and respectful who also cares about others. Thank you coach Harjee for creating Aaroh’s keen interest in chess and guiding him on various chess strategies.  We appreciate PCA for providing a platform for kids to explore their interests in chess. I am sure Aaroh will do his best with Premier Chess Academy. “

6. Kabir Khera

Kabir is a 7 year old 1st grader, living in Prosper TX. He’s a very focused kid, especially when learning new things. He got introduced to chess about 6 months back and enjoys playing chess. He also loves playing team sports like Soccer, American Football, Basketball and Cricket. When Indoors he enjoys playing video games along with his friends and watching Chess videos on YouTube. I would like to appreciate PCA coach (Ms Harshita Sinha) for supporting and guiding Kabir to continue his learning and enhancing his interest in this beautiful game. He applies chess strategies and takes pride in winning against his dad and his friends.”

7. Sahana Ame

Sahana is a fun loving, seven year old chatterbox.  She is very friendly, likes reading, video games, cartoons and baking shows. She is learning dance, piano and chess. Practice, analysis and guidance from coach Raunak has helped her grow her chess skills and she is competitive because she wants to have a better rating than her sister! Although, in her own words: “I like chess because you are using your brain and it’s fun “. We’re proud of her progress. Thanks to PCA and her coach Kumar Raunak for mentoring and providing the space for beginners to learn chess. “

8. Sudiksha

Sudiksha is 7 years old, currently in 2nd grade. She is based out of North  Carolina. She started playing chess 4 months ago. She is a polite, creative and quick learner. Apart from Chess, she loves to dance, Gymnastics, Swimming and Painting. Math and Science are her favorite subjects. We are very proud of her. We hope she will be a junior grandmaster in the near future. We are thankful to PCA  and coach Mr. Magesh for helping Sudiksha to improve the game  and learn new skills/strategies.”

9. Hridhaan Rudra

Hridhaan is 9 years old and studying in Grade 4. He started chess with PCA, learned all he knows and glad to continue his learning with his coach. Hridhaan is a Junior Black Belt in Taekwondo and is going to be a Black Belt soon. He does swimming in the swim team. He also learns piano and violin. He is interested in Lego building and playing video games. He is a good kid and a responsible big brother to his 4 years old brother. We are so proud of Hridhaan.

10. Rudra

Rudra is an 11 Year old and currently in 5th grade at Lake Hiawatha Elementary School Parsippany-New Jersey. He is passionate about chess, soccer and digital games. He wants to become chess grandmaster. He loves his brother a lot and helps him in his study and chess. His favorite subject is Math. He started playing chess at eight with his father and chess classes through PCA in July 2022 and since then he has shown keen interest and marked improvement in his strategy and games. He spends his leisure time curiously searching for chess videos on chess strategy topics and improving his skills. He never let himself down, kept learning from his mistakes to put his steps in the next level. . Chess coaches Bala Krishna (previous) and  Piyush Snehi do a great job and we have seen him improve significantly over the past few months. We are proud to be a part of the PCA community and looking forward to seeing him in the next level.”

11. Advait Garg

Advait is a 12-year-old boy in the seventh grade. He always wears a cheerful smile and loves hanging out with his friends. Adavit plays chess, badminton, soccer, and cricket. Over the past few months, he developed a fascination with chess, which has now become his hobby. He enjoys listening to music and playing the flute and keyboard. A big thanks to the PCA team and coach Prabhat for igniting his fire.”

12. Disha Arora

Disha is 7 years old and is in 1st grade in Toronto. She is a very energetic and focused girl who relishes chess classes a lot. She started with PCA two months ago and she is already in love with chess, she keep challenging herself with all the chess puzzles and learning advanced moves. Apart from chess, she also loves to do drawing, Painting etc. We appreciate all the kind of support and helpful guidance she has received from her PCA coach Prakrati thus far, to continue learning and progressing in chess. “

13. Aryan

“Aryan is a fun loving  9 year old kid. Like any 9 year old kid; he  loves to experiment, read, play chess, play Uno, swim, do art work and build. He is very passionate about the chess game, and is continually motivated by his coach Rakesh Gurung Sir, which has really helped up in his game.”

14. Kaushal Upadrasta

Kaushal is eleven, studying 6th grade and is from New Jersey. He enjoys playing chess, Rubiks cube and basketball without getting bored at all. Another thing which he loves is reading books. Kaushal got introduced to chess when he was in 2nd grade but he actually showed interest when he was in 4th grade during summer break. He used to play with his dad almost every night before he went to bed with so much eagerness to learn new techniques and moves. His passion for chess has brought him to PCA where he received guidance and mentoring from Coach Raksha and Rinku Jain and made him a better player.”

15. Advik Lad

Advik is 7 years old and he is in 1st grade. He joined PCA a couple of months back. He is a very disciplined, attentive, focused kid and very passionate about playing chess. He follows all the instructions in the chess class given by his coach, always curious to learn new techniques and he applies those strategies in his moves while playing chess. He is a quick learner and doing great in academics. In his free time, he loves building Legos, playing with his friends and riding scooters etc.”

I have been watching Advik develop right from the basics to a point where he now understands and analyzes all chess moves. The best quality of Advik I would say is his gameplay and mainly his Opening. His opening is so strong that it’s hard to find mistakes in him. 16. Vibhav Krishna Sunkara

My Name is Vibhav, and I am 10 years old and in fourth grade. I constantly like to learn new things. I have many hobbies like playing Basketball, creating Art, and doing Origami. I started to develop an interest in chess, so my parents and older brother encouraged me to play and learn chess. I joined Premier Chess Academy and started learning many new and fascinating topics in chess. It soon became one of my favorite hobbies. 17. Aadityavardhan Reddy Vallivedu

Aaditya is 8 yrs old and currently in 3rd grade. His favorite subjects at school are math and space sciences. He likes playing cricket and chess regularly with his friends. Although he was introduced to the game of chess at home around age 6, he started playing chess seriously from 6 months ago after he joined the PCA. Thanks to coach Sibin Paul and Aaditya’s passion and consistent practice, he quickly improved his game and was promoted to advanced beginner level and now started playing USCF rated tournaments from this month.One of his favorite opening strategies is the ‘London system’.”

18. Harish Makkena

Harish is a fifth grader and loves to play chess. He also likes to swim, soccer. His coach, Tejas has been a constant source of inspiration and motivation. His teaching style has made the chess game more fun, interactive and exciting. Harish tries his best to practice chess while juggling between school, soccer practice.  He started as a novice player but the concepts and strategies taught by the coach helped him improve his skills and play better each time. One of his goals is to practice more and improve his rating. We are very glad we enrolled him in Premier Chess Academy and are excited to see his journey forward.”

19. Maadhav

Maadhav is a first grader, who loves math, solving puzzles, playing chess, playing piano, solving sudoku and so on. His ambition is to become an Astronaut. He is a little genius in Math and Spelling Bee, participates regularly in “Genius Cerebrum International olympiads” for Math and Spell Bee and is been recognised and awarded many times with Certificate of Genius and Certificate of Excellence for his excellent performance in Math and Spelling Bee. He is smart, a quick learner and a self learner. He is a loveable son and a caring brother. He loves spending time playing with his twin sister and younger brother. Maadhav is a little explorer too. He showed his interest in chess during his kindergarten summer break by downloading the chess app on TV and started playing games all by himself. Then he started exploring and looking for resources to know and learn more about the game. He loved the game and the math and calculations behind each move. As a parent, I always wanted to support and encourage his interests. And the right and best decision was enrolling him in PCA. His chess journey started with PCA on November 24 2022. And under Coach Viswanath sir’s guidance and coaching he has gained a lot of knowledge about the game and the tactics. He has tremendously improved in the way he handles the game. He loves the classes, playing games, solving chess puzzles and Brain Teasers. Words are not enough to thank Coach Viswanath sir, for his dedicated coaching. He is a great teacher, a great motivator, a great mentor who always make sure that the kids have understood the concepts and are making improvements in their games with confidence. I take this opportunity to thank Pallavi mam, who is our coordinator, for being always approachable. Coach Shruthika mam for the trial class and giving us the confidence to enroll in PCA. 20. Teartha Aarav Kancharla

” Teartha is 10 years old, studying 5th grade in Brooks Crossing Elementary school, NJ. He likes to read books and enjoys playing video games, basketball. He started playing chess online and with his friends and developed interest in the game. Teartha joined PCA in December 2022. He is always excited and prepared for his practice class, regular classes and tournaments. Coach Keshav helped him improve a lot in chess in just 2 months. Thanks a lot. Selection Criteria – March 2023 :

  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
