At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (March 2024) at Premier Chess Academy, North America (Canada & USA)!

1. Aarya Nayak

Aarya is a 9-year-old chess enthusiast from New Jersey who loves to dive deeper into the intricacies of her game. She often participates in chess tournaments and her sportsmanship in both victory and defeat are commendable! Apart from her passion for chess, Aarya has a keen interest in table tennis, and arts/crafts and has recently discovered crochet as her new hobby. She is also training in Bharatnatyam and performs at various cultural events in the tri-state area. Currently, Aarya is a Jack of all trades and master of none, but she aspires to become a Grandmaster someday, which is a very long journey ahead. We thank & appreciate Coach Subhayan Kundu who has been a great support and his guidance has been valuable in Aarya’s chess growth!

Aarya, my chess student, really loves playing chess. Since she started, she’s been super interested in every aspect of the game. She works hard to get better, always practicing different moves and strategies. Aarya gets excited when we talk about different ways to start a game or how to win at the end. Even when things don’t go her way, she keeps trying and learning from her mistakes. Aarya doesn’t just play chess during our lessons; she also enjoys reading about famous players and games. Her dedication motivates others to do their best too. Every time Aarya plays, she puts her heart into it, making every game special. 2.  Avyan Vemuluru

Avyan is 7 years old, 2nd grader. His interest in chess came by seeing his brother’s game. He has a diverse range of interests. Avyan loves playing chess and is also passionate about soccer and basketball games. In basketball he achieved medals, and he also loves building the Legos with his brother. We thank his coach Hemanth Kumar who always encourages his students and motivates them to learn new techniques in the chess.

3.Chaarvini Garikapati

Chaarvini Garikapati, is 8 years old and studying in 3rd Grade in public School, Chicago, Illinois. She is very focused and passionate about learning new things. She enjoys playing Chess a lot. Chaarvini has joined PCA in June 2023 as an absolute beginner. Since then, she has improved her game a lot under the guidance of coach Mr. Viswanath. She stood 2nd and 3rd positions in PCA practice sessions couple of times and mostly maintains below 10th positions in many practice sessions. We, as the parents of Chaarvini would like to appreciate Coach Mr. Viswanath for his impactful training sessions, dedication, creating healthy competition between the kids, and his teaching style of making sure that every kid understands the topics & Game. Chaarvini is also learning Painting, Dance, and playing Shuttle. We thank PCA and Coach Mr. Viswanath for all the kinds of support and helpful guidance.

Chaarvini is one of my favorite students who is obedient and regular in my sessions. She used to grasp the concepts quickly and make things so easy for me as a coach. 4. Cheran Saikarthikeya Allipilli

Cheran is currently studying in 3rd grade academically and has a lot of interest in playing chess and rubik’s cubes. Additionally, he is learning swimming and soccer. 2nd runner in Hindi kavitha paat pratyogitha in Intermediate-1 at all over US nationals. Also, at school, he was awarded a lapel pin for reciting ” We the People United States of America Constitution “.

Coach feedback on Cheran:

Cheran is a great kid, always enthusiastic and enters the session with a pleasant smile. I like his approach towards chess and the way he handles failure. I’m sure Cheran would be a good inspiration in many positive aspects for a lot of kids of his age. I appreciate his patience, enthusiasm and the best part of how he treats the game. I believe chess is not about winning every time, it teaches us patience, a tactical nature, acting on pressure, handling failure, self-motivation and the hunger for growth. I wish the best of luck to Cheran for his future achievements too.

5. Darsh Subramani

Darsh is a very kind, friendly and funny 7-year-old. He likes to experiment and build different things, be it with his Lego or just using cardboard and things around the house. He loves playing chess, especially with his coach Venkat and the friends he made in his chess class. They always hang out even after the class, playing and talking. When he is not playing chess, he likes to bike around the neighborhood and play with his friends.

Darsh is a very Enthusiastic and confident kid. If he makes any mistakes he will try to correct them next time. He has improved a lot in recent months and all credit goes to the practice and concentration that she shows in class. Going forward If his dedication is the same he is going to achieve big. 6. Devash Behera

 Devansh, 6-year-old in 1st grade, has made impressive strides in his chess journey since joining PCA seven months ago. Under the expert guidance of Teacher Prakriti, he quickly grasped the intricacies of chess and has developed a true passion for the game. Devansh eagerly practices chess online and with friends. Devansh not only excels in class but also demonstrates his skills in engaging matches. His progress and enthusiasm make him a promising and inspiring young chess enthusiast.

Devansh is a very enthusiastic kid, he is the one kid you will find in every practice session, he grasps everything quickly and tries to implement them in his games. One fact I like about Devansh is that he never gives up and will always question the mistakes he has been making. I wish him all the very best for his future.

7. Gopal

Gopal is 7 years old and currently is in 1st grade and lives in Maryland. Gopal started playing at home when he was 6 and was very enthusiastic about chess and longed for improvement. He is so excited to join PCA and Coach Danish is of great help for Gopal to understand various concepts and take his skills to the next level. He always looks forward to classes and practice sessions. Gopal likes swimming and Soccer. Gopal is also very interested in world history.

Gopal loves chess a lot. Initially, he was more than ready to learn the game. He is very competitive and enjoys answering chess questions before the other kids can. He practiced a lot and improved significantly. He has even beaten highly rated chess players. Gopal is not only adorable but also disciplined. Now, he aims to earn 1000 points on Lichess so he can be promoted to the Advanced Beginner batch.

8. Aarchisha Janjam

Hi, my name is Aarchisha Janjam. I am seven years old, and I live in California. When I grow up, I want to be a chess Grandmaster like Bobby Fischer.I like to play chess because it’s so much fun. I work every day to get better at the game by solving 50 puzzles and playing 1 or 2 games a day. Playing chess calms my mind and brings me confidence to conquer the world. Besides chess, I enjoy swimming in my pool, working on art projects, solving math problems, rollerblading with my sister, dancing and playing with my friends. Do you know that my other goal is to read 1000 books? I am at 801 today and I will get a big present once I finish reading 1000 books. As you can see, I like to learn, explore and have tons of fun.

9. Ranbir Thakur

Ranbir is a 7-year-old first grader and lives in California. He got interested in chess by watching his cousin brother play. He started playing chess about a year ago and with the guidance of his coach Raunak he got a lot better so now he can beat his family and friends. Ranbir likes solving math problems, reading books, swimming and playing video games. Ranbir is academically very strong and got a principal’s award in his second trimester of school. We thank his coach for the constant guidance and support, and we look forward to seeing Ranbir grow more in chess.

Ranbir is ultra-active kid who is always ready to learn new things. His consistent efforts towards practice tournaments are truly remarkable. He always attends the session and tries to solve all the puzzles given to him. He has a really friendly attitude towards his chess mates and everyone in the class admires him a lot. 10. Savitru Kulkarni

Savitru is in Kindergarten at Maywood Hills elementary in Bothell, WA. He likes Piano, Ice Skating, Hiking, Lego, Race cars, and Chess, obviously. By practicing Chess, Savitru is developing better focus, forward thinking, and gaining an interest in other strategy games.

Savitru is a quick learner and grasps things really fast. He’s always interested in learning new topics, takes active participation in class discussions. He is really good at solving puzzles and enjoys playing games. He has shown great improvement in his game and won a tournament of his level. 11. Krishiv Singh

Krishiv Singh is in kindergarten and lives in California.“Krishiv loves his chess classes with Coach Rohit and PCA. He looks forward to participating in the tournaments and as a parent I am very happy to observe his enthusiasm for the game. We are very thankful to Coach Rohit and PCA for their guidance and also for making the classes fun and interactive.

12.  Arin Parakh

Arin is 7 years old and in 1st grade in Chicago, IL. Arin started playing chess with his dad and older sister. We enrolled Arin in PCA about 9 months ago, and he has loved learning chess and putting that learning into practice. It’s one of his favorite pastimes. Arin loves to skewer his dad and has even beaten him a few times! In addition to chess, Arin loves soccer, cricket, listening to music, playing Beyblades, and skiing. Thank you to Mr. Sahil for being a wonderful and supportive teacher, and challenging Arin!

Arin is a very passionate, focused and an intelligent kid. He is also fun loving and very respectful. He has shown good signs of improvement in his gameplay in the last few months. He participates regularly in the practice sessions and weekly tournaments and has strong zeal to learn from his past mistakes. 13. Shravya Tatikonda

Shravya has always been a smart child who thinks creatively to solve problems rather than following the traditional methods. She always wanted to learn new tricks in chess for many years and joining the chess academy really helped her gain more confidence and clever thinking. Shravya also loves to swim, dance and do some artwork. She has won a couple of art competitions and also participated in many dance events representing Indian culture. As parents, we are proud of her achievements and looking forward to her even brighter future.

14.  Srihan Komarina

Meet Srihan, a bright and studious kindergartener with an insatiable curiosity and a diverse range of interests. Despite his young age, Srihan’s intellect shines brightly, particularly in two areas: chess and math logic. Srihan’s love for chess is evident in his enthusiasm for strategic thinking and problem-solving. He approaches each game with determination and skill, showcasing a natural talent for the complexities of the game. In addition to chess, Srihan is deeply passionate about math logic. Even during his preschool years, he displayed an impressive understanding of mathematical concepts, mastering ideas like squares, cubes, and even tackling Sudoku puzzles with ease. With his boundless curiosity and love for learning, Srihan is poised to make a significant impact as he continues to explore and excel in his academic pursuits.

15. Suhas Vemparala

Suhas, a first grader, is a sweet and friendly little guy. He loves challenges. He developed his interest towards chess from his dad. His coach, Mr. Shekhar Raha has been an excellent support for him in sharpening his skills and steering him in the right direction. He enjoys playing tournaments with his friends and family. Besides chess, Suhas loves Math and Science. He keeps himself engaged with these subjects, either online or by reading various books he borrows from the city library. He loves playing with his little brother and has a lot of friends.

Suhas is a very sharp kid and a quick learner. He catches any new topic or concept very easily and quickly and also never forgets it. He also has a very good ability to evaluate a position and play the best move accordingly. Teaching chess tactics to him is definitely very enjoyable as a coach as he is always very excited to learn new topics. 16.  Tejas Puram 

Tejas, a 13-year-old residing in Michigan, developed a keen interest in chess through his engagement with the Premier Chess Academy, renowned for its excellence in nurturing chess enthusiasts. Beyond his passion for chess, Tejas finds joy in playing basketball, video games, and fostering friendships. His demeanor is characterized by obedience, reflecting his respect and responsibility.

Tejas is a passionate boy and a good learner who tries to grasp all the concepts, which are discussed in class and implements all the topics in his game. 17.  Thaman Jayaram Chilukuri 

Thaman is a good listener. Good at math. He likes to spend his free time playing video games and watching TV. He loves to spend time with his friends. He is also a Carnatic vocalist. He is passionate about playing chess and likes to play challenges and tournaments in Premier Chess academy. He learned a lot of tricks and techniques from his Coach Harshita. We are very thankful to have a great talented coach for him.

Thaman is so good at chess. He is doing very good in theory as well as game. He listens to everything that is being taught in the class. He has improved a lot during the time period.   • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Overall – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
