At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.

Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (May 2021) at Premier Chess Academy, USA!

 

1.Aashvith Jammula

“Aashvith is in 7th grade, he lives in Maryland and his interest in chess started a few months ago. Aashvith is a quick learner. He has a lot of determination and accomplishes anything he sets his mind on. Some of his hobbies are cricket, reading, and watching TVs shows. He spends most of his time reading all types of books he can get his hands on”

Aashvith is a very mature and talented kid in all respect. At such a young age, his attitude of accepting failure and also trying to learn from them is praise worthy. He is a very hard working ,sincere and disciplined kid who usually doesn’t miss out on any practice session. He is so dedicated and passionate about chess that at such young age he keeps practicing chess even when he has other activities and studies to accomplish. His performance in classes, speed of solving puzzle and approach towards handling the problem is absolutely remarkable. As a coach I feel quite privileged to have Aashvith as my student. 2.Saharsh Sushil Gosavi

“Saharsh the dinosaur lover is 2nd grader from Charlotte. He started playing chess at the age of 7. The day when saharsh got enrolled in PCA soon after the demo class he is still so excited for his weekly chess class. Pin and knight fork are his favorite tactics, all thanks and gratitude to our wonderful coaches Darpan sir & Bhaskar sir. This is just the sweet beginning with the team long successful way to go with our super talented coaches. Beside chess Saharsh loves making nature drawing, video games, solving riddles and making new friends. Lastly a big shout out to whole PCA team for regularly conducting classes, organizing practice sessions, updating parents in these hard days of pandemic besides their families suffering from Covid. He is a very hard working Kid, he never let me remind to complete the assignments rather he submit them much before the due date. 3.Aashman Tumare 

“Aashman is 10 years old, he started playing chess, when he was 6 . Initially he immediately got hooked onto the game and made quick strides with couple of good tournaments. He was always passionate and very competitive who doesn’t like to lose. As he advanced through the game, he lost interest after couple of years. We must thank PCA and Darpan sir for reigniting his interest towards the game. He is always keen on attending sessions and practice games. Thank you PCA”.

4.Advik Vishnoi

“Advik is a 3rd grader from Eastvale, California, who is a quick learner, enthusiastic and passionate about chess. He was introduced to chess this year and has well-disciplined in his approach. He loves to play with legos and build things based on his imaginations. He loves to play ping pong as well. Advik is learning a lot at PCA under Harshita Mam’s guidance”.

5.Anika Gautam

“Anika is in 1st grade and loves playing Chess. Other than Chess she loves arts, running and bike riding long distance. She is strong in her opinion and is very expressive. She is a risk taker and open-minded. She developed interest in playing Chess last year starting Covid. She learnt Chess basic from Gauransh and used to practice chess on an App. After introducing her to the Chess class she developed confidence and learnt to progress on her own. I recollect them talking in Chess language and playing Chess in car without even having a chess board. It blew off my mind seeing Anika understand Chess to this level. In her off time she will be seen playing Chess puzzle, reviewing Chess video which Gauransh made or making her own Chess video. I would like to mention that she learnt immensely from Rinku Jain who is the best teacher for a kid of her age. Thank you very much for continuously motivating her”.

6.Om Kar ,Mishra

“Om is 10 years old living in Orlando, Florida. He is passionate about chess. He started playing chess at age of 5 but he has become serious about chess in last one year. His hobbies include playing guitar, Rubik’s cube, recorder and video games. Since joining PCA, he has improved on advanced strategies of chess. He is a great admirer of his coach Rajesh sir and looks forward to his classes every week”.

7.Sudhi Anant Addagarla

“Anant is in 3rd grade and is 9 years old. He likes animals and Blue Whales are his favorite. His favorite game is chess. He started playing chess when he was 7 years old and became passionate about chess after watching the Netflix series “The Queen’s gambit”. His favorite chess players are Magnus Carlsen, Bobby Fisher and his coach Swapnil Sir. Anant enjoys his chess class and practice session. We would like to thank Swapnil Sir for guiding him. Apart from chess he also enjoys swimming, biking, watching Minecraft, YouTube videos and playing with his younger brother Aaryav”.

8.Hridhaan

“Hridhaan is 6 years old and lives in Seattle. He is a happy and cheerful boy who loves all kinds of sports. He loves watching football, cricket and play them indoors and is constantly on the move. This year, he simply bumped into a chess board and since then not a single day passes by without him playing a game. Because of Chess he is able to focus and sit at one place :). He is at a stage where winning is the most exciting part for him and our hope is that this sport teaches him how to take failures gracefully and learn from them. Thanks Ravikant sir for coaching.”

9.Adrit Nudurupati

“Adrit is a highly energetic, cheerful and fun loving six-year-old kindergartner who’s developed an extreme interest in chess over the past 6-8 months. He’s shown great improvement over the months, thanks to his coach Abhishek. Besides chess, he loves to bike, skate, read books, play cricket, bey-blade, carrom, Uno and just have some plain fun with friends! We’d like to thank his coach Abhishek for sparking his interest in chess and guiding him.”

10.Yojit Sharma

“Yojit is 9 years old and is a 4th grader in Columbia, Missouri. Yojit is an enthusiastic child who portrays interest in extracurricular activities. He wants to be an inventor scientist in future. He loves playing chess. Thanks to Premier chess academy for starting this online platform and most importantly thanks to Tushar sir for all the motivation to the kids.”

11. Arnav Nayyar

“Arnav is 12 years old and lives in Toronto, Canada, and is currently in Grade 7. He started playing chess at a very young age and is very passionate about it. He never wants to miss any class and practice tournament. Besides chess, he plays piano and loves to play Xbox Fortnite video games, watch movies, and basketball. His favorite part about chess is it a very strategic game and it also teaches life lessons as well. He plays chess with her sister in the evening who is also a student of PCA. He is learning a lot under the guidance of Aabhas sir at PCA. He is very thankful for him to teach certain tactics and strategies.”

“Arnav is a very passionate and hard working child. He has a well balanced personality as a chess player. His approach towards the game is to first understand the situation and then to do what is required. He can be very calm and patient if it is required, at the same time he can be very much aggressive with is playing style if that is what the situation demands. Arnav also has a good approach towards facing defeats. He understands that failure is a part of process and the good thing is that he does not loses his hope, if he ever fails, instead he will take a step back and understand his mistakes and will work on them. 12.Vivaan Nilesh Pawar

“Vivaan is 5 years old(kindergartner) lives in Norwood, Massachussets. He is always full of energy and excited to play any game. He loves playing board games, card games like checkers, chess, UNO and outdoor games like soccer, running, badminton. He wants to become COP because he thinks that he can run and catch bad guys (running is his favorite). He is always ready to learn new things & is quick learner. He was introduced to chess last year by his grandfather. He plays Chess with his father during off school hours, his favorite chess piece is the Queen (because it can move in any direction any number of places). He joined PCA in February 2021. Many thanks to PCA & Mr. Rajat Malik Sir for encouraging him to play and helping him develop his games of chess.”

14.Hemamrutha Krishna 

“Hemamrutha is 12yr old and would be entering 8th grade. She is a very responsible girl and punctual in her assigned works. She is smart and independent too. She is fond of Anime, K-pop, and Manga and learning Japanese in her free time. Her father is her first chess teacher and they both play a lot of games together especially during the COVID lockdown. We were impressed with her interest in chess and wanted to provide her systematic and professional coaching so that she can get relevant expertise and gain more insights into the game.”

Selection Criteria – May 2021: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
