At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Friendly advise, “for student’s those who didn’t make it through – you will make it one day and for those who are the stars of the month – continue the practice as your bar goes up”.
Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (May 2022) at Premier Chess Academy, Europe!
1.Arya Karthik
“Arya is a 9 year old calm and compassionate child residing in Scotland. His interests are towards LEGO, robotics, travelling, sketching, lawn tennis and skating. He loves to spend time with family and also is keen on reading fictions. Arya had an interest towards chess but he has come a long way after joining Premier Chess Academy. He regular plays the chess practice sessions and lichess has become an integral part of his routine. There have been times when he has to face defeats but instead of giving up he continues to improve his next games. We take this opportunity to thank his coach Abhinandan for guiding him and bringing in a noticeable change.”

“Arya is an obedient boy. He is confident while playing and this attitude of his enhances his performance in the practice sessions and the tournaments. Arya is very dedicated to chess and takes all the feedback seriously and tries his best to execute it in his games. 2.Anvitha Deepak
“Anvitha is 10 years old. She likes playing chess, football, badminton and doing art. She recently completed “Level 1 – Absolute Beginners” in chess and is looking forward to learn more techniques and win against all family members at home. She never says no to playing chess now and all thanks to coach Afinu Shifan for creating this interest in Anvitha.”

3.Elizabeth Nutley
“Elizabeth is 5 years old and lives in the UK.A few months ago she discovered a chess board on her dad’s bedside table with a book for beginners. She taught herself where to place pieces on the board using the book and asked us to teach her how to play chess. Since then we joined PCA. She loves the lessons and learned a lot.”

“Elizabeth is the cutest and youngest kid I am teaching chess. Her good afternoon wishes in every class make my day happier. She started learning chess a few months ago and learned a lot about strategies and planning. She plays practice sessions every Friday to improve her rating and chess game. She tries to apply all the strategies in every game and win. She starts jumping after a win and shows an adorable smile on her face. I hope she continues her hard work in the same way and becomes a great chess player.”

4.Jishnu
“Jishnu is a 10 year old boy from London UK. He started playing chess with his dad when he was 7 . I came across PCA via Facebook few months back and we enrolled immediately. I can definitely say that PCA has been the best decision we have made. Jishnu looks forward to his lessons with coach Shrutika. His interest for chess and his chess skills have both improved immensely since he joined PCA. At PCA, Jishnu has learnt lots of new moves and strategies. Pawn promotion is his most favorite move. Jishnu loves playing on Lichess a lot. He looks forward to the practice sessions on Lichess. Apart from chess , Jishnu also loves playing the piano . Cricket is his favorite outdoor sport. Jishnu will be starting secondary school in September at one of the top grammar schools in London. I have no words to thank Shrutika , who has always encouraged him by saying “the most important thing is to play correctly, don’t focus on winning or losing “.

5.Benjamin Boban
“Benjamin explores everything with curiosity on his eyes and enjoys chatting whether it’s in or out of school or home. His father introduced him to chess as he started spending more time watching television. He amazingly picked moves of chess and started enjoying chess with the support of his tutor Sunya. Chess helped him to improve his concentration and analytical skills.”

Selection Criteria – May 2022:
- Regular in class and practice sessions.
- Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
- Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
- Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
- Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
