At Premier Chess Academy (PCA), our vision is to transform kids into the world of chess & support them along the transition. Each and every kid at PCA deserves a special appreciation but we have shortlisted (selection criteria below) the students. Here we go to recognize the stars of the month (September 2023) at Premier Chess Academy, North America(Canada & USA)!

1. Naga Saarupya Vallamkondu

Naga Saarupya Vallamkondu is an energetic, enthusiastic, obedient and very respectful 6 year old kid from Dallas, USA. She is Studying 2nd grade. She is a very caring sister to her little sister.  She also has an interest in badminton, Drawing and painting. Although she learned the basics of chess from her Mom and then showed a lot of interest in playing chess, we had her chess classes with Premier Chess Academy  4 months ago and now she is enjoying playing chess and joining the classes. She wanted to explore more and sharpen her thinking abilities. Thanks a lot to the coach (Utkarsh Gupta)who shaped her in the right path.”

Naga is an intelligent, focused and calm girl. She gives maximum attention during the sessions. She is very consistent in practice tournaments. She is exceptional in applying the concepts that she learns during the class in her games. She is very active in class and responds perfectly whenever asked anything. She never missed any session. 2. Nihan Kabir

Nihan Kabir is in the 6th grade and lives in New York City in the United States. He started playing Chess in 4th grade and has used various videos and websites to learn more about Chess. Nihan also loves to play games and read books. His favorite subject in school is Social Studies and is something he is very interested in. He started his journey at Premier Chess Academy during the Summer and has participated in most tournaments since he joined the team. “

Nihan puts incredible effort into learning chess from the class and by his own initiative. He makes use of every resource provided by the academy and the resources available to him to improve in chess. He is very attentive in class, solves puzzles fast, plays games out of passion regardless of the results in individual games. He loves playing chess regularly. 3. Ronit Sukthanker

Ronit is an 8 yr old studying in 3rd grade. He is talented, loves Math, Chess, Gymnastics and Music. His interest in chess was fueled by his excellent coaches Mr. Saumil and Mr. Swapnil. Apart from his competitive spirit and cheerful demeanor, he stands out by thinking outside the box. During his free time, he plays musical instruments and chills out watching YouTube and playing Minecraft.

4. Vikrant Chinthapatla

” Vikrant is 11 years old, he is in 6th grade. He likes playing chess but after joining PCA he got a lot more interest in playing chess and  now it is one of his favorite game. He is attending chess classes from last  10 months. Vikrant is very focused and always follow the instructions given by his coach Sahil Batra. Thanks to his coach Sahil  for his efforts to making  him more progressive. He also likes swimming and  playing soccer. Thanks  to PCA for providing a platform for kids to learn chess. ”

5. Shlok Agrawal

Shlok is 11 years old and lives in Pennsylvania, USA. He started learning chess with PCA during summer break and loves it a lot now. He spends majority of his free time in playing online chess. He is very competitive and PCA provides him the edge. He is also good at swimming, playing flute, loves math and is a green belt Karate. Much thanks to coach Rinku Jain in channelizing his energy and making him grow better at chess every day.

6. Vidhyuth Arunkumar 

Vidhyuth Arunkumar is an 8-year-old chess enthusiast who lives in WA, USA. He started playing chess when he was 7 years old and has been hooked ever since. He loves learning from Raunak, his chess coach, and competing in tournaments. Raunak has been a great mentor and motivator for Vidhyuth, helping him improve his skills and confidence. We are excited to see Vidhyuth’s progress and want to support him in joining more local tournaments. Besides chess, Vidhyuth also enjoys playing basketball, tennis, and Lego with his friends..

Vidhyuth is a very active and focused kid who loves solving puzzles and playing games. He is a very fast learner and extremely passionate about playing chess. He never misses any session and revises the taught topics properly. He is very confident and tries to clears his doubts very nicely. He keeps a very friendly attitude towards his friends due to which he is admired by all. His performance in classes and speed of solving the puzzle are praiseworthy.

7.  Adithya Sekaran

Adithya Sekaran is 7 years old studying in Grade 3 and lives in Toronto, Canada. He is very curious to learn new things and a very outdoor person. He picked up the chess game by watching his parents play. He fell in love with the game and became so passionate about it. Apart from chess he loves jigsaw puzzles, Lego and piano. He spends countless hours assembling 5000 -10,000 pieces of puzzles, spending days and nights. He came third in the Eastern Canada Piano Music composition contest.  Thanks to his coach Rakesh sir for helping him improve on his chess skills. His contribution and inputs have improved understanding the nuances of chess.

Adithya Sekaran is an enthusiastic kid who is very good at grasping concepts and implementing it in practice session games. He always look forward to attending the chess class and he is always active to answer first, he’s good at solving thematic puzzles quickly and very good at positional games. 8. Sanjay Venkatesh

Sanjay Venkatesh, a 9-year-old from Washington state formally started learning chess from PCA from Jan of 2023. He has developed interest and has been enjoying playing chess.
Coach Prakrati Manodhya has a knack to teach and her game analysis method as a part of teaching is very interesting.  Our sincere thanks to coach Prakrati and PCA.

9. Jayavardhan Dodla

Jayavardhan is a 9 years old student in 4th grade from Massachusetts, United States. He has a great sense of humor and enjoys every moment. His passion to play chess started suddenly and then he started attending the classes. He has improved a lot now. Thanks to Mr. Narendiran for the support and guidance. Apart from playing chess, he enjoys biking, swimming, playing soccer and video games.

10. Samik Madamala

Samik Madamala is 9 years old. He is in 4th grade living in Redmond Washington. He is a fun loving kid. He likes Soccer and Chess. He is more interested in Chess Tournaments. Samik is improving his skills and Coach Kunal Kumar is encouraging him to play more games. He pays attention to each student. We are happy to see him playing in tournaments. We are thankful to PCA team

11. Tanay kanthi

Tanay is 12 years old, studying 7th grade in Archie R Cole middle school in East Greenwich, RI. He is a very good artist, likes to play volleyball and chess. He started playing chess with his grandparents and then tried it online a few months back and developed interest in the game. Tanay joined PCA this August and is highly enthusiastic to participate in tournaments and attend his classes. Coach Keshav has been a very good guide and even gave him an additional session for notation that helped him with his tournaments. Hoping Tanay will improve his chess skills to higher levels under his guidance.

12. Siddh

” Siddh is 6 years old from Livingston, New Jersey. He has fallen in love  with Chess since he joined the classes in July and always look forward to being part of Chess lessons and practice sessions . Every day he learns  new tricks and approach from his coach Hemanth and tries to implement that during practice games! Thanks to Hemanth for being very patient with the kids and teaching techniques in a very simple and effective manner!”

13. Shrivas Doddapaneni

” Shrivas Doddapaneni is a 10 year old 5th grader (Alum Creek Elementary School), a resident of Lewis Center, Ohio, USA. He is a fun loving child who always has a unique perspective on life. Shrivas holds a Black Belt in the martial art of Taekwondo. He enjoys playing soccer, cricket, and chess. Additionally, he enjoys reading books and riding a bicycle. Shrivas is an energetic child who enjoys spending time outdoors. It is always a pleasure for him to attend chess classes and practice sessions. ”

14. Daniel Danghyan

” Daniel is 7 years old and lives in New Jersey, USA. He is a very enthusiastic boy, enjoys learning everything about space and the planets and is also interested in the life-cycle of different animals and plants. Daniel is in 2nd grade and wants to become a scientist in the future. He enjoys riding a bike and swimming in the pool with his friends. Daniel learned chess moves all by himself from YouTube, and after joining PCA 2 months ago, he made significant progress with the help and attentive guidance from coach Harshita. “

16. Purvi Gadde

” Purvi is 8. She is from Toronto, Canada. She is a fun loving, kind natured girl. Of all the games she tried, she loved playing chess, always ready for a game. She loves to do chess puzzles, math puzzles, drawing and to watch games on YouTube. And when not playing chess, one could find her on her roller skates with her friends. She is a curious child and eager to learn about the world and how things work. She aspires to be a scientist when she grows up. Kudos to her teacher Arya, she is always looking forward to attending his classes. He is very good at keeping the kids interested, challenging and teaching in a very engaging manner. He is very good at providing guidance, giving attention to each kid and teaching techniques. ” Purvi is surely one of the best students in my batches, she’s a fast learner with great memory. Her dedication towards chess is remarkable. Finding brilliant moves is like her daily routine. She has won many tournaments recently, and her rating skyrocketed! She is always interested in the classes, engaging with full concentration yet being very playful. She is always trying to compete against each other, and in other tournaments, she played simul against 5 players 500+ rating than her, yet she did amazing! I was shocked to see she completed 400 puzzles from a book within some days! With this level of dedication, practice, and hard work, I am sure she can become National Champion easily. “

17. Sanjitha Sathish

” Sanjitha Sathish is 7 years old living in North Carolina, USA. She is in 1st grade and very good in academics, quick witted,  kind and helpful. She loves math, science and started learning chess during summer break. She shows a lot of interest in attending chess practice sessions and challenges herself. 18. Ayaan Todi

Ayaan Todi, is a 6th grader living in the Chicago area, Illinois. He enjoys playing sports like basketball, and cricket. He developed interest in chess in December of 2022, and it has become his favorite game. It helps him become patient and improve his focus. At PCA we look forward for Ayaan to keep growing in chess and have fun! “

Selection Criteria – September 2023: 

  • Regular in class and practice sessions.
  • Displaying improvement in practices to reach top 3 positions.
  • Puzzle solving and tactics findings in regular class.
  • Generate quest in chess and regular in assignments.
  • Over all – Passion is evident in class, practices, puzzle solving etc.
